Saluzzo on Bike (Km 10 + 25): bike tour which is divided into 2 half days: the first is a beautiful and easy ride in Saluzzo, to both discover the medieval town situated in the high zone, as the new town in the lower part. And if you are in good shape, do not miss the second part of the tour which is devoted to the visit of the Abbey of Santa Maria, a prestigious medieval monument of the XII century, located Staffarda which is only 13 km of roads with little traffic and many orchards.
From the source of the Po river to the Marquis’ lands (km 40): Our reception organizes a transfer by car that takes you with your bike in Pian del Re (Mt 2.020 above the sea level) where there is the source of the Po river; from here, by bike, and following the course of the river, and pedal (little bit) it is possible to admire the beautiful Po Valley and the Saluzzo plain below. About 40 on a drop of about mt 1.700, with an average gradient of 4%, of course in descent.
The hill of Saluzzo (km 30): a beautiful bike tour on the scenic hill saluzzese between the Alps and dominating the valley below. Ideal for cyclists and not for beginners.
From the Marquis to the “King” (km 40): bike ride through orchards and cultivated fields on very quiet roads, from Saluzzo to Racconigi, where a World Heritage Site of UNESCO is waiting for you: the Royal Castle and its beautiful park. Besides the visit of the Castle (closed on Monday) we recommend a ride of about 5 km inside of the castle garden, where among ancient trees, squirrels, ducks and many other protected animals, you can discover many beauties such as the Royal Greenhouses, the Lago Grande, the stable of horses, just to name a few. At the end of the visit, a car transfer will bring you back comfortably to Saluzzo.
On the roads of the Tour of Italy: numerous cycling road on the roads that have made the history of the Tour of Italy (and also of the Tour de France). Harsh stages that evoke the great unforgettable challenges of the biggest riders. Only suitable for cyclists with good physical preparation.
And for experienced cyclists here is a program to match to stay in Saluzzo 3 or 4 nights.
1° Stage: A tough mountain stage which covers the streets of Cuneo / Pinerolo, an epic stage that saw unforgettable champions compete on famous climbs with very hard slopes as the Col Agnel, Col de l'Izoard, and the Col Montgenevre, Col del Sestriere and then return to Saluzzo after almost km 200 fast endless. An international route straddling the French-Italian border. Magnifique!
2° Stage: It provide for the departure from Saluzzo to face 3 hills such spectacular, how tough: Colle di Sampeyre, Colle dei Morti and Madonna del Colletto. Approximately km 185 to return to Saluzzo after touching 4 Cuneo beautiful valleys: Val Varaita, Val Maira, Valle Stura and Valle Gesso. Unmissable!
3° Stage: stage from 165 km with 2 important hills (Fauniera e Sampeyre) paths in the opposite direction compared to the 1st stage, and other less demanding hills, but that break your legs. Here too, the beautiful views take your breath away, although, with tough climbs that crash, it remains very little.
